Outlook uses two types of files to store the email data and those files are OST and PST. These are proprietary file formats used in the Outlook alone. OST file is used to store all the offline Outlook data saved on your email. This could include emails, attachments, calendars, images, etc. All your mailbox data is stored in these files and they are very important to keep your data safe and secure. But sometimes due to unforeseen conditions you might face corruption or damages in those OST and PST file. What can you do for those conditions?

Well, the first thing you can do is locate the OST file and then try to fix the damage. We will cover all this in this article, so stay till the end of the article. By default the OST files are stored on these locations:

• C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
• drive:\Documents and settings\\Local settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

These are two typical locations of the OST files, however, if you are not able to find them in those locations then you can locate them via Outlook. Yes, you can locate OST file via Outlook by going inside a few settings. Here are the steps to locate the OST file in Outlook:

• Open the Outlook and click on the ‘File’ from the toolbar and then click on the Account settings.
• In that window click on Account settings inside Account settings.
• In the new pop up window click on the Data tab and then select your email account and then click on the ‘Open File Location’.
• A folder will open where you’ll find all the OST files.

Now, when you’ve located the OST file then you can use that to repair it. You can use the OST file converter tool to convert the OST file into a brand new one.

Create a new OST file
